A landscape nestled in the Luberon region of Provence, France.
Situated in the Luberon region of Provence, this 2023 project embraces the distinctive ecology and aesthetic character of southern France's limestone plateaus and valleys. The site's Mediterranean climate and native plant communities informed a design rooted in ecological intelligence and respect for existing landforms and vegetation patterns. Rather than imposing a predetermined aesthetic, Rewild developed a naturalistic planting strategy that honors the region's indigenous flora while creating layered plant communities that will mature into resilient, biodiverse landscapes. The approach reflects the studio's commitment to rewilding as both a design philosophy and long-term stewardship practice, where human intervention works in concert with ecological processes to foster beauty and biodiversity. At its core, Rewild's work in international contexts like Provence demonstrates how sensitive site observation and knowledge of local plant communities can generate landscapes that feel rooted in place while supporting flourishing ecosystems.
