Our Philosophy
“Beauty and biodiversity are inseparable. We create landscapes that awaken the senses, restore ecological richness, and deepen the experience of place.”

About the StudioFrequently Asked
Rewild Landscape is a woman-led landscape architecture and planting design studio founded in 2015 by Marie Salembier, based in New York City and the Hamptons. The studio designs residential, hospitality, and cultural landscapes rooted in ecological intelligence, naturalistic planting, and rewilding principles. Rewild Landscape evolved from Watson Salembier, the practice Salembier co-founded with landscape designer Julia Watson.
Rewilding in landscape design means integrating ecological principles — biodiversity, native planting, pollinator support, habitat creation, and soil health — into designed environments. Rather than purely ornamental horticulture, rewilded landscapes restore layered plant communities and ecological function while retaining beauty, atmosphere, and strong compositional structure. The result is a refined landscape that supports pollinators, birds, and soil biota without sacrificing design intent.
Rewild Landscape works primarily in New York City, the Hamptons (including East Hampton, Sagaponack, Bridgehampton, and Southampton), and across the Northeast United States, with select international projects in France and elsewhere. Notable work includes the Channel Gardens at Rockefeller Center, the Cartier SoHo Terrace, The Surrey Hotel terrace, and residential estates across Long Island and Connecticut.
Marie Salembier is a French-trained landscape architect and horticulturist, founder and principal designer of Rewild Landscape. She previously co-founded Watson Salembier with landscape designer Julia Watson in 2020. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, Dezeen, CN Traveller, Haute Living, and Rockefeller Center Magazine, and focuses on creating lush, ecologically intelligent landscapes that evolve beautifully over time.
Rewild Landscape offers three categories of service. Rewild Design handles full landscape and planting design from concept through construction documentation. Rewild Plus provides implementation, seasonal stewardship, revegetation, and regulatory compliance for mature landscapes. Rewild Advisory offers hourly and retainer consultation on rewilding, native species, and horticulture for architecture and landscape architecture firms.
Rewild Landscape combines the rigor of traditional landscape architecture — site analysis, spatial composition, construction documentation — with an ecological-first approach that treats biodiversity, soil health, and long-term stewardship as core design drivers, not afterthoughts. The studio stays involved as each landscape matures, guiding its care and seasonal evolution so the landscape becomes more resonant and ecologically valuable over time.
