This lush oasis in the woods of Sagaponack in the Hamptons was created to promote calm and entertainment. Every season, the colors of the planting offer different spectacles. The plantings transition from the woods featuring white oaks to a clearing rhythmed with unique specimen trees and a more manicured garden.
The backyard has different spaces, each used differently. The outdoor living room adjacent to the house, the pool area, the vegetable garden, the tennis court and its sitting area,… The major spaces are the outdoor living room and the pool. Each of these spaces are framed by topiaries. Topiaries offer the opportunity to create protected areas within the garden. Large boulders have been used to accentuate the continuity of the frame created by the topiaries.
