Summer garden installation at The Rink, Rockefeller Center.
At Rockefeller Center, one of Manhattan's most iconic public spaces, Rewild Landscape designed a summer garden installation for The Rink in 2020, transforming a seasonal venue into a living ecosystem. The project responded to the urban context of Midtown by introducing naturalistic planting that brings ecological intelligence to a highly trafficked public destination. Rather than ornamental arrangements, the design leveraged layered plant communities to create visual richness while fostering biodiversity in the heart of the city. By integrating rewilding principles into a temporary installation, Rewild demonstrated how even ephemeral interventions can shift perceptions of what public space can support and sustain. For public commissions, Rewild approaches planting design as an opportunity to reconnect urban visitors with living systems and the quiet intelligence of ecological stewardship.
