We transformed a former, underused concrete space into a vibrant microforest—an immersive, bird-and-pollinator haven designed for families and everyday use. What was once a heat-trapping, hardscape void is now a living landscape of native trees, flowering understory, berry-producing shrubs, ferns, and meadow plants that changes beautifully through the seasons.
This new pocket ecosystem cools the site, captures stormwater, and improves air quality while creating meaningful habitat for birds, butterflies, and beneficial insects. Just as importantly, it brings the neighborhood together: a place to wander, learn, and reconnect with nature—right outside the front door. The result is a healthier, more resilient public space that supports biodiversity, strengthens community pride, and offers a joyful, restorative experience for all ages.
